Still Here

“Good times and bad times, but I’m here, I’m still here (with apologies to Stephen Sondheim)”

This is my first post under my new business name of Lynne Brown Coaching and it follows upon a number of posts I wrote under the name of Orca Coaching. What changed? How did I make the decision to rebrand myself and why did I make the decision?

Like all good stories the decision came about as a result of many changes. In 2012, my partner and I made the decision to move in with my ex Mother in Law to support her in her old age.  She was 97.  We were able to love, support, and keep her home until her death in 2016 at the age of 101.

In 2013, I was hit with a double blow, my best friend died and I was diagnosed with a reoccurrence of breast cancer. I made the decision to have a bilateral mastectomy in January 2014, believing I would be able to return to work quickly. Turns out that kind of surgery and loss of my friend had quite an impact on my body and soul. At the same time MIL was becoming more frail and consequently required more care.

My business was not getting the attention it required and ultimately I decided to close it down.  Recently, my partner and I moved again, into our forever house and I made the decision to restart coaching, only this time in a much more focused way.

Lynne Brown Coaching is primarily intended to offer services to women in the area of decision – making. Culturally and socially there are a host of pressures on women that often adversely impact their ability to make good decisions.  Many of us suffer from the “be nice” and “be kind” pressures. Other pressures result from stepping outside of our comfort zone and it can be scary.  All of those things can create decision paralysis or a retreat to the familiar. Each time we back away and constrain ourselves, its like losing a bit of ourselves, till we get to the point of not knowing who we are or what we want.

Making good decisions based on fact and intuition can change our lives. I can help you with that.
